The 8th graders in Documentary class have been creating videos for the Fuel the Future Video Contest. Each year, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) awards $2,000 in prize money, including $1,000 grand prize, to the Iowa students who create the best video encouraging motorists to choose cleaner-burning, homegrown renewable fuels, like E15 and biodiesel.
This year’s 6th Annual Fuel the Future Video Contest started Monday, August 4 and closes Monday, January 4, 2016.
This contest is not only a great tool to get new forms of media into the classroom, but also an excellent way to get students engaged on issues that matter to them and their state. Iowa is the nation’s leader in renewable fuels production, and ethanol and biodiesel provide serious benefits to Iowans, including cleaner air, lower prices at the pump, greater energy security, and a more renewable future.
