Chapter 2: Introduction to Social Media Marketing

GOAL: When you leave class today you will:

  1. Plan for future success in social media marketing
  2. Create epic social media content
  3. Measure social media marketing success

RIGHT NOW:

  1. Do you remember what the acronym SMART stands for?
    1. Here is an example: “On Facebook, we will publish three posts per day: one post being motivational, one being funny, and the third being informative. Our goal is to respond to every comment within 10 minutes (if left during business hours), and to get at least 15 comments per post.”
  2. What are some of your favorite brands on social media? These could be on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc. A metric that a business could measure within an audit could be post frequency. How often do you think that brand posts on a weekly basis? Look up those brands and count up how often they post on a weekly basis. Scrolling back in time a few weeks should give a good enough representation for this discussion.
