GOAL: Before you leave today you will know:

  1. How to write and endorse a check
  2. How to keep a checking account register in balance.
  3. How to make a deposit.
  4. The consequences and penalties involved in “bouncing” a check.

RIGHT NOW:

  1. WATCH THIS “CHECK IT OUT” VIDEO
  2. Open your green booklet to page 16 and follow along while listening to this videochecks (1)
  3. Read and do Situation A for MAY 15 to MAY 30 using pages 18 – 20 in your green booklet. Remember:
    1. Always record the transaction in the CHECK REGISTER first
    2. Second, write the check or fill out the deposit slip–USE GOOD HANDWRITING
    3. Use the answer key as  you go to check to be sure you are doing it correctly.
    4. Show me when you are done.

GOAL: Before you leave today you will know:

  1. How to reconcile a checking account register with an account statement.
  2. Four ways to protect yourself from fraud.
  3. The customer’s responsibilities in managing a personal checking account.

RIGHT NOW:

  1. Get the StudyMaster 5A-5F & read and do page 19 – 24. Remember & do the following:
    1. Write EVERY transaction in the check register before writing the check or filling out the deposit slip or form
      1. When you are done with page 21–show me
      2. When you are done with page 22–show me
      3. When you are done with page 23–show me
      4. When you are done with page 24–show me

GOAL: Before you leave today you will:

  1. Fill out a checking account application
  2. Write a check
  3. Record a check and a debit in a check register
  4. Figure out the real cost of short-term loans

RIGHT NOW:

  1. FINISH the assignment from last class
  2. Get the Checking and Balancing a Checking Account handout and follow along while listening to this video
  3. Read and answer the questions on page 72 using good writing skills
  4. Do the Computer Exercise
  5. Hand in the packet when you are done.
